Mayo Pet Crematorium Gardens
Carbon Footprint
Due to the use of kerosene in the cremation process the operation of the crematorium leaves a carbon footprint. To offset the footprint of the crematorium we pledge to plant a native tree species (bare-root, in winter) for every cremation that we carry out in the preceding year. Our gardens already contain hundreds of primarily native tree species some of which are now 15-20 years old.
We are lucky enough to have a couple of acres of mature landscaped garden at the crematorium, combining a productive organic fruit and vegetable garden and orchard, formal and informal flower garden , several ponds including wildlife and koi ponds and extensive planting of mature and immature native tree species with a smattering of non-native specimen trees.
